Dragons’ Den

The BBC re-commissioned us to design the latest series of Dragon’s Den.

In previous series we installed the set within a location. This time circumstances dictated that we use a studio. Consequently we had to produce two brand new sets: – one replicating the Den, and another for the post-pitch interviews.

The film stage chosen at Pinewood Studios provided us with an underfloor tank which we were able to utilise as access for the stairs leading up to the Den.

The opportunities that a film stage affords also allowed us to improve the design of the Den. Taller, more dramatic windows provide a view onto a translight backdrop of East London. We have also changed the texture of the brickwork and added extra features which we were unable to do previously when constrained by having to fit within a location.

The second set we produced replicates the floor immediately beneath the Den where Evan Davis conducts the post pitch interviews. Again we incorporated changes, including another translight view of London.
